It’s the battle of Canadian bragging rights and supremacy tonight on Hockey Night In Canada! One of the greatest rivalries in sports is rekindled tonight with an ‘Original 6’ confrontation at the Bell Centre in Montreal. It’s the 738th meeting for the two storied franchises. The Canadiens dominated the Leafs with 14 straight wins but finally earlier this season on October 14 The Buds beat the Habs 4-3 with a goal from Auston Matthews 48 seconds into over time.  The Leafs will try and make it two in a row over the Canadiens and extend their winning streak to 6 games. They have won 4 out of the 5 without the services of Matthews in the line up. It will be a game time decision whether he plays tonight. Carey Price is still out with a lower back injury for the Habs so Charlie Lindgren is once again expected to start tonight. Frederik Andersen will be between the pipes for Toronto fresh off the heels of a 1-0 shutout victory over the Devils Thursday night where he made 42 saves tied with Bruce Gamble in 1970 with the second most in Leaf history at home behind Mike Palmateer who made 47 stops in a clean sheet in 1977. The Maple Leafs are 13-7 and Montreal enters the game with an 8-10-2 record.  Coach Mike Babcok said “I guarantee you they’re going to be going here tonight. It’s us and it’s Saturday night and they need the win. They’ve also … been playing well. So we expect, just like last time, there to be no space and it to be a grind.” Habs captain Max Pacioretty said “This would be a good time to put together a good game on a Saturday night against the Leafs. These are always the games that are fun, the ones you get up for.” Who will win tonight? Join the conversation on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
